P210E: Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch C/F Voltage Correlation

Standardized SAE J2012 code · P21xx — Fuel & air metering and auxiliary emission controls

What does P210E mean?

P210E compares two redundant position signals, C and F, and sets when their voltages stop agreeing within the permitted tolerance. Which physical tracks carry these letters is up to the manufacturer: GM's 2023 table 23OBDG07 uses C for the first sensor of a second throttle body, while Ford's summaries assign D, E and F to the three tracks of its pedal, so a C/F pair only arises on unusual layouts. No manufacturer documents this code publicly. The same kind of check is documented under P2138: GM's 2023 table flags the D/E pedal pair at a difference of 0.12-0.18 V, the 2014 VW Touareg at 0.14-0.26 V. A single drifting track, contact resistance or a shared ground fault is the usual cause; the ECU then trusts neither signal fully and limits power.

The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.

Symptoms

  • Engine or throttle warning lamp on
  • Reduced power or limp mode
  • Hesitant or delayed response to the pedal

Common causes

  • High One sensor track worn or drifted, so the pair no longer agrees
  • Medium Corrosion or water in the connector shifting one signal
  • Medium Fault in a shared ground or 5 V reference line
  • Low Faulty input stage in the engine control module

Likelihood is a general estimate across vehicles; your make and model may differ.
