P210D: Throttle Actuator B Control Motor Circuit High

Standardized SAE J2012 code · P21xx — Fuel & air metering and auxiliary emission controls

What does P210D mean?

P210D covers the high-side fault of the second throttle drive: a voltage on the motor B circuit that suggests a short to battery, or a supply that stays live when the stage should be off. No manufacturer documents this code publicly. On twin-throttle engines that publish their logic, GM (23OBDG07) and Ford (2024) collect the electrical faults of throttle B under P210A, so P210D will rarely be seen. The CARB rule for output components still applies: an electrical fault in an actuator that affects emissions must be detected and stored. If it appears, treat it like P2103 for bank 1: inspect wiring and connector of throttle B for chafing to a positive feed, then the motor and the ECU output. The engine runs on reduced power.

The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.

Symptoms

  • Reduced power and uneven running
  • Engine warning lamp on

Common causes

  • High Throttle B motor wire shorted to battery voltage
  • Medium Damaged or wet connector at throttle body B
  • Low Faulty bank 2 output stage in the ECU

Likelihood is a general estimate across vehicles; your make and model may differ.
