P210A: Throttle Actuator B Control Motor Circuit/Open
Standardized SAE J2012 code · P21xx — Fuel & air metering and auxiliary emission controls
What does P210A mean?
Throttle actuator B only exists on engines with two electronic throttles, typically one per cylinder bank. P210A reports an electrical fault, mainly an open line, in the drive of that second motor. GM's 2023 table 23OBDG07 checks the bank 2 H-bridge just like bank 1: open load above 200 kOhm (0.8 s), driver overtemperature and short to ground below 0.5 Ohm, each one trip. Ducati links P210A to the rear-bank throttle motor of its V4 and points to moisture in the ECU connector. Ford's 2024 summary uses P210A as base code for all faults of its second throttle body. The engine runs on reduced power. Bank 1 is P2100; low/high circuit faults are P210C/P210D, position errors P210B.
The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.
Symptoms
- Reduced power, one bank breathing poorly
- Engine warning lamp on
- Rough running or limp mode
Common causes
- High Moisture or corrosion in the throttle B or ECU connector
- Medium Broken motor wire to throttle body B
- Medium Open winding in throttle motor B
- Low Faulty bank 2 output stage in the ECU
