About OBDLink MX+

The MX+ is ScanTool.net's premium Bluetooth adapter. It uses ScanTool's own STN chip, which understands the ELM327 command set, so it works with almost every OBD app, and adds faster speeds and extra networks.

What it supports

  • All OBD-II protocols, plus Ford MS-CAN and GM single-wire CAN (SW-CAN), so apps can reach body and comfort modules on those brands.
  • iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows over Bluetooth (MFi certified for iOS).
  • The free OBDLink app, and third-party apps such as BimmerCode, FORScan, Torque Pro, Car Scanner and Carista.

Strengths

  • Much faster than ELM327 clones when logging many values.
  • Battery-saver sleep mode, so it can stay plugged in.
  • Firmware updates from ScanTool.

Limitations

  • Classic Bluetooth only; BimmerCode's team recommends the newer CX (Bluetooth LE) for BMW coding.
  • It is an OBD adapter, not a J2534 pass-thru device, so it cannot run dealer software such as Techstream or ODIS.
