About GDS VCI

GDS (Global Diagnostic System) is Hyundai and Kia's dealer diagnostic software. The VCI connects it to the vehicle, and the trigger module adds flight recording.

Supported vehicles

  • Hyundai and Kia, including hybrids. The GDS software bundled with aftermarket VCIs typically covers models up to about 2017.
  • Newer cars are served by Hyundai and Kia's later systems (GDS Mobile with VCI II, and GDS Smart / KDS).

What it can do

  • Codes, live data and actuator tests in all systems, with guided procedures and repair information.
  • ECU reprogramming.
  • Flight recording: logs sensor data while driving, to the laptop or to the VCI, to catch intermittent faults.

Strengths

  • Dealer-level coverage of the Hyundai and Kia models it supports.

Limitations

  • Does not cover recent models.
  • Flight recording needs the trigger module, and the VCI must stay connected with the ignition on.

OBD4 does not provide software, licences or downloads.
