About ENET OBD2-to-Ethernet cable

An ENET cable connects a laptop's Ethernet port to vehicles that diagnose over Ethernet (DoIP). It is a passive cable, so what it can do depends on the software.

Supported vehicles

  • BMW F, G and I series, and MINI F series, from about 2008.
  • Volvo SPA and CMA platform models from 2015, with VDASH.

Works with

  • E-Sys (coding and programming), ISTA (diagnostics), BimmerCode and BimmerLink, and VDASH.

Strengths

  • Fast, stable connection that is suitable for flashing.
  • No power supply needed, and cheap.

Limitations

  • Not for E-series BMWs, which need a K+DCAN cable.
  • Phones need a USB-to-Ethernet adapter, or use a Wi-Fi ENET adapter instead.
  • Use a battery charger during flashing.

BMW ISTA Community reported Time-based tickets (hour, week, month or year) through BMW’s aftersales portal; rates vary by country F, G and I series diagnosis. Widely used, but not a BMW product.
BimmerCode Supported Free to download; full version about $49.99 (one-time) F, G and I series, via a suitable Wi-Fi adapter or cable.
