About Carprog

Carprog is a universal programmer for car electronics repair. It is usually sold with a set of 21 adapters (A1–A21) and in several software generations, such as 8.21, 10.93 and 13.77.

What it can do

  • Airbag: read and write EEPROMs and microcontrollers in airbag modules to clear crash data.
  • Dashboard: instrument cluster EEPROM and microcontroller work, plus VAG dashboards over CAN.
  • Radio: radio code tools, such as Renault, VAG, Philips and Ford.
  • Immobiliser: transponder and immobiliser EEPROM tools.
  • Programmer: EEPROMs (24/93/95 series) and microcontrollers such as Motorola HC08, HC11 and 912/9S12, and ST92 internal EEPROM.

Strengths

  • One low-cost programmer for many repair jobs, with a large adapter set.

Limitations

  • Mostly bench work: modules have to be removed and often opened.
  • Supported chips differ between software versions.
  • Clone units can be disabled by updating the A1 adapter, and work best on older Windows versions.
  • Changing odometer readings is illegal in most countries and is not covered here.

OBD4 does not provide software, licences or downloads.
