VAS 6154A

Also known as VAS 6154 and VAS6154A

Volkswagen Group dealer diagnostic interface (VCI) for ODIS, connecting over Wi-Fi, LAN or USB.

About VAS 6154A

The VAS 6154A is the official vehicle communication interface for ODIS Service and ODIS Engineering in Volkswagen Group dealers. It replaced the older VAS 5054A and the first VAS 6154.

What it does

  • Connects the ODIS laptop to the car over Wi-Fi, LAN or USB.
  • Supports DoIP (diagnostics over Ethernet), which recent MQB-evo and MEB vehicles need for fast software updates.
  • Used for guided fault finding, coding, adaptations and flashing control units with ODIS.

For independent workshops

  • Volkswagen's erWin requirements list the VAS 6154A, and also accept SAE J2534 pass-thru devices that have been validated for ODIS.
  • A cheap J2534 adapter will not necessarily work with every ODIS function, especially flashing.

Good to know

  • Copies of the VAS 6154 are widely sold online. They are not supported by Volkswagen and can fail during programming.
