Launch X431

X431 is the name Launch Tech uses for its family of multi-brand diagnostic tools, from compact Bluetooth dongles used with a phone to large PAD tablets for workshops. Launch is one of the largest Chinese makers of aftermarket scan tools.

What it can do

• Full-system diagnostics with fault codes and live data for most vehicle brands, depending on the software package.
• Service resets such as oil, EPB, steering angle, DPF and battery registration.
• Bi-directional tests and ECU coding on PRO and PAD models; online programming on some top models.

Pricing model

• Hardware is bought once and includes software updates for a period (often one or two years). Updates are then renewed per year.
• Some brand packages are sold separately, so two X431 units with the same hardware can cover different cars.

Good to know

• Model names change often and regional versions differ; check the exact software list for the unit you are buying.
• Grey-market units may be region-locked or unable to receive updates.
