About WinOLS

WinOLS is a professional editor for engine control unit (ECU) files, made by EVC electronic in Germany. It does not connect to the car itself: you read the file with a separate tool, edit it, and write it back.

What it can do

  • Finds and displays calibration maps in 2D, 3D and text views.
  • Compares file versions, and manages projects and checksums through paid modules.
  • Add-on plugins connect it to specific hardware.

Licensing

  • Bought per seat, with no time limit. Premium features are an optional yearly cost.
  • EVC's terms restrict a licence to one company and forbid reselling it.

Limitations

  • A steep learning curve: it assumes you understand engine calibration.
  • It needs a separate reading tool and a good backup process.

Good to know

Removing emissions equipment or changing emissions-relevant maps is illegal on road vehicles in many countries. Community rules do not allow instructions for emissions fraud.

Hardware you need

Interfaces that connect WinOLS to the car. Official means required or supplied by the software maker.
