P211D: Throttle Actuator B Control Throttle Body Range/Performance

Standardized SAE J2012 code · P21xx — Fuel & air metering and auxiliary emission controls

What does P211D mean?

P211D is the mechanical check of throttle body B, the twin of P2119. GM's 23OBDG07 table describes four spring tests for bank 2: the opening and closing springs must bring the de-energized plate back to the defined limp position within set times (about 0.2-0.36 s per path), checked during offset learning and also at cold temperatures, each failing in one trip. Ford lists P211D with MIL and wrench lamp for its second throttle (2020-2023; 2024 as P210A byte 92). A sticking plate, a weak spring or ice keep the throttle from returning, so the safe fallback position cannot be guaranteed and power is limited. Position errors in operation are P210B, motor current P211C, stuck positions P211A/P211B.

The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.

Symptoms

  • Engine warning lamp on
  • Reduced power or limp mode
  • Unstable idle

Common causes

  • High Weak or broken return spring in throttle body B
  • Medium Deposits or ice slowing the plate
  • Low Throttle adaptation not completed after service
