P211B: Throttle Actuator B Control System - Stuck Closed

Standardized SAE J2012 code · P21xx — Fuel & air metering and auxiliary emission controls

What does P211B mean?

P211B is set when throttle B on a twin-throttle engine opens less than the controller asks for. Ford lists it for its dual-throttle applications in the 2020-2023 summary and in 2024 as P210A with failure-type byte 73, each with MIL, wrench lamp and detection in under 5 seconds; the A-side logic it mirrors is P2112, where actual angle trailing the target by more than 6 degrees counts as a fault. One bank is then starved of air: the engine feels weak, may stumble at idle and often drops into limp mode. Ice after a frosty night, heavy carbon or a jammed gear train in throttle body B are the usual suspects. The opposite direction is P211A, position control errors P210B.

The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.

Symptoms

  • Weak acceleration, limp mode
  • Rough idle
  • Engine and wrench lamp on

Common causes

  • High Frozen condensate locking throttle B
  • Medium Heavy carbon restricting throttle B
  • Medium Jammed gear or weak motor in throttle body B

Likelihood is a general estimate across vehicles; your make and model may differ.
