P07F4: Transmission Range Control Module Communication Circuit High

Standardized SAE J2012 code · P07xx — Transmission

What does P07F4 mean?

The transmission range control module is the separate shift-by-wire control unit that reads the selector and drives the range actuator. P07F4 is the electrical high check of its communication line: the line is shorted to the supply and stays at a high level. No manufacturer document available to us uses it; as with P07F3 it fits a dedicated signal or redundancy line rather than a CAN bus, whose faults GM reports under its own U codes. The module may block range changes or select neutral.

The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.

Symptoms

  • Shift warning
  • Possible shift lock or neutral (depends on manufacturer)

Common causes

  • Medium Communication wire shorted to the supply
  • Low Module faulty
  • Low Connector fault
