P07F3: Transmission Range Control Module Communication Circuit Low
Standardized SAE J2012 code · P07xx — Transmission
What does P07F3 mean?
The transmission range control module is the separate shift-by-wire control unit that reads the selector and drives the range actuator. P07F3 is the electrical low check of its communication line: the line is shorted to ground and stays at a low level. No manufacturer document available to us uses it; the code fits a dedicated signal or redundancy line between selector, range control module and transmission or engine module rather than a CAN bus. GM handles a bus short under its own U2409 (bus off for 1 s, two trips). The module may block range changes or select neutral.
The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.
Symptoms
- Shift warning
- Possible shift lock or neutral (depends on manufacturer)
Common causes
- Medium Communication wire shorted to ground
- Low Module output stage faulty
- Low Moisture or corrosion in the connector
