P07F2: Transmission Range Control Module Communication Circuit
Standardized SAE J2012 code · P07xx — Transmission
What does P07F2 mean?
The transmission range control module is the separate shift-by-wire control unit that reads the selector and drives the range actuator. P07F2 reports a fault in its communication. Mitsubishi's 2022 CVT with electric shift sets it when the module's start-up CAN check fails and blames the module itself; it switches to neutral only if the CVT or the whole system is affected too, and one of its two entries carries no MIL. GM (U18AA, U2409) and Ford (U101F, without MIL) report the same function under their own U codes.
The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.
Symptoms
- Shift warning
- Usually no restriction; neutral if the transmission is affected too
- U codes in other modules possible
Common causes
- High Shift-by-wire module faulty or its software
- Medium Communication wire or connector
- Low Weak battery during start-up
