P248F: EGR Cooler Bypass Control Circuit Range or Performance Bank 2

Standardized SAE J2012 code · P24xx — Auxiliary emission controls

What does P248F mean?

Same as P245B on bank 2. EGR mixes inert exhaust into intake to lower combustion peak temperature — too little raises NOx, too much causes misfires and rough running.

The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.

Symptoms

  • Check engine light on
  • Pinging or knocking under load
  • Power loss and hesitation
  • Possible rough idle
  • Failed emissions inspection (NOx)

Common causes

  • High Bypass valve sticking due to soot
