P217D: Fuel Injector Group H Supply Voltage Circuit/Open

Standardized SAE J2012 code · P21xx — Fuel & air metering and auxiliary emission controls

What does P217D mean?

Group H is the eighth injector group, on GM petrol direct injection the injector of cylinder 8, the last one on bank 2 of a V8. GM's 2023 and 2024 tables call it injector H and use P217D when its high side shows less than 0.5 ohm to ground with the driver off or to the injector supply with the driver on; two events above 9 V store the code in one trip. GM's service texts refer to it as the high control circuit of the cylinder 8 injector. Bulletin 24-NA-106 for the 2023 and 2024 Corvette with the 5.5 LT6 shows how a common cause hits a whole bank: water getting into a wrong twelve-pin intermediate connector to the bank 2 injector harness set P2149, P2155, P216D and P217D, the even cylinders, together with rail pressure codes. The fix is a connector with the correct part number.

The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.

Symptoms

  • Check engine lamp on, cylinder 8 misfire
  • Several bank 2 injector codes at once if the connector is wet

Common causes

  • High Cylinder 8 injector feed shorted in the harness
  • Medium Water in the bank 2 injector harness connector, Corvette LT6
  • Low Cylinder 8 injector shorted internally
