P0ECC: Hybrid/EV Battery E Voltage
Standardized SAE J2012 code · P0Exx codes
What does P0ECC mean?
P0ECC is the general voltage code for hybrid/EV battery E. The letters A to F mark separately monitored sub-batteries, modules or energy stores of one system; E is the fifth, so the code can only occur where a manufacturer divides its storage into at least five such units. It signals a voltage of this unit that does not fit expectation, without saying whether it fluctuates (P0ECD), sits too low (P0ECE) or too high (P0ECF). No manufacturer documents P0ECC publicly. CARB asks for monitoring of the cells and voltage sensors of hybrid storage with codes that name the smallest replaceable unit, which explains such letter series. As a pack-level reference, GM's P0ABB compares pack voltage with the cell sum at a 12 V limit. The driver sees a battery warning.
The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.
Symptoms
- Battery or hybrid warning, MIL
- Reduced electric power and range
Common causes
- Medium Aged or damaged cells in unit E
- Medium Fault in the voltage sense leads or connectors of unit E
- Low Battery controller measuring or software fault
