P0EA3: DC/DC Converter Current Sensor C Circuit High
Standardized SAE J2012 code · P0Exx codes
What does P0EA3 mean?
P0EA3 marks a current sensor C signal above the top of its accepted window. Electrically this means the signal line touching a voltage source, an open sensor ground or a failed output stage of the sensor; a genuine overcurrent of the converter is a different matter and has its own code, P0D33. No manufacturer documents P0EA3 publicly. Mercedes-Benz illustrates the fault type on the first current channel of the converter in the EQB and the G-Class, which logs P0E5400 for a short to plus; in that bulletin the entry comes from a wrong wake-up of the converter rather than from damaged wiring; a converter reset ends the error state. Ford treats raw current signals above 6.0 V as faulty. If only sensor C is affected, its path is the suspect. The low fault is P0EA2.
The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.
Symptoms
- 12 V or high-voltage warning in the cluster
- Converter output stopped
- Reduced performance possible
Common causes
- High Sensor C signal shorted to supply
- Medium Open ground of the current sensor
- Low Converter error state after wake-up
Likelihood is a general estimate across vehicles; your make and model may differ.
