P0DA4: Drive Motor B Inverter Voltage Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance

Standardized SAE J2012 code · P0Dxx codes

What does P0DA4 mean?

P0DA4 flags a rear inverter voltage that is electrically valid but disagrees with the other voltage readings on the same high-voltage bus. Mitsubishi spells out the check for the 2023 Outlander PHEV: once the power drive unit has at least 8 V, voltage control is off, CAN is healthy and the rear value is available, all three comparisons must fail together, namely capacitor 2 main, capacitor 2 sub and capacitor 1 each differing from the rear inverter reading by at least 100 V, held 0.2 s or longer. Because a single deviating reading is not enough, the rear sensor itself is the prime suspect. The manual first clears higher-priority codes and the rear unit's P0C7A, P0DA5, P0DA6 and P30D1, then replaces the power drive unit. The warning light and MIL come on. The battery-side correlation code is P0DA9.

The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.

Symptoms

  • Plug-in hybrid system warning and MIL on
  • Rear motor power limited
  • Code returns only after the OBD-II drive cycle

Common causes

  • High Rear inverter voltage sensing drifts against the other bus readings
  • Medium Power drive unit faulty (Mitsubishi final repair step)
  • Medium Underlying fault in the rear motor control unit (P0C7A, P0DA5, P0DA6, P30D1)
  • Low Battery management unit reporting incorrectly

Likelihood is a general estimate across vehicles; your make and model may differ.
