P0CCB: Charge Port Door A Open Request Switch Circuit Intermittent/Erratic
Standardized SAE J2012 code · P0Cxx — Hybrid and electric propulsion
Safety-critical system. Faults in airbags, brakes, steering or high-voltage components can put people at risk. Follow the manufacturer's service information and safety procedures, or have the vehicle checked by a qualified workshop.
What does P0CCB mean?
P0CCB flags a charge flap A open request switch whose signal jumps between states without a matching press, or drops out briefly. Such signals usually come from loose terminals, a cracked solder joint in the switch or a harness that flexes with a door or body panel. No manufacturer documents this code publicly; GM's Volt tables of 2011 and 2012 cover the same switch only with P0CC7, P0CC9 and P0CCA, which use six of eight samples as a filter and would hide short dropouts. CARB 13 CCR 1968.2 (e)(15) makes intermittent checks mandatory only for emission-related inputs, so a comfort switch like this one rarely carries one. The GM charge port patent shows how the button press leads the controller to fire the flap actuator. The driver sees the flap answer only now and then.
The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.
Symptoms
- Charge flap opens only occasionally when the button is pressed
- Fault comes and goes, often with temperature or road vibration
Common causes
- High Loose or spread terminal at the switch or module connector
- Medium Cracked solder joint or worn contact inside the switch
- Medium Harness damaged where it flexes with a door or panel
Likelihood is a general estimate across vehicles; your make and model may differ.
