P0967: Pressure Control Solenoid B Control Circuit High

Standardized SAE J2012 code · P09xx — Transmission

What does P0967 mean?

Pressure control solenoid B circuit high: a short to voltage, and on GM six-speeds also an open, since they have no P0964. For the Saab 9-4X 6T70, where B is clutch pressure solenoid 2 for the 3-5-reverse clutch, the module needs 1 s, stores a Type A code and limits the transmission to reverse and 3rd gear at maximum line pressure; GM's 2018 six-speed table uses 0.3 s and one trip. GM's 8-speed (clutch 2), the 9- and 10-speeds, Allison 1000 (power short within 75 ms) and GM's dual-clutch gearbox (even-clutch valve) report the same fault on their solenoid B. Ford does not use it. Siblings: P0964 open, P0966 low, P0965 performance. Repairs usually involve the solenoid body or valve body module.

The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.

Symptoms

  • MIL on, limp mode in a fixed gear
  • Harsh engagements at maximum line pressure
  • Dual-clutch gearbox loses the even gears

Common causes

  • High Open coil or poor connection (reported as high on GM six-speeds)
  • Medium Control wire shorted to a supply voltage
  • Medium Damaged or contaminated transmission connector
  • Low Faulty output stage in the control module

Likelihood is a general estimate across vehicles; your make and model may differ.
