P0834: Clutch Pedal Switch B Circuit Low

Standardized SAE J2012 code · P08xx — Transmission

What does P0834 mean?

Clutch pedal switches A and B are digital inputs of manual gearboxes: they release the starter only with the pedal pressed, switch off cruise control and tell start-stop whether the clutch is open. Which switch is A or B is up to each manufacturer – FCA calls the pedal-up switch A. Ford's 2020–23 summary checks a dual switch over more than 40 pedal applications and reports a stuck switch without MIL (P0830 stuck high, P0833 stuck low, comparison P0704). P0834 means switch B stays at ground – a short to ground or an open supply. No manufacturer document available to us uses it: GM's 2006 tables check switch B only for plausibility (P0833), and Ford reports a switch stuck low under P0833. The effects match P0833.

The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.
