P00A6: Intake Air Temperature Sensor 2 Circuit Range/Performance Bank 2

Standardized SAE J2012 code · P00xx — Fuel & air metering and auxiliary emission controls

What does P00A6 mean?

Intake air temperature sensor 2 for bank 2 is the second air temperature sensor in the intake path of the second cylinder bank, for example in the intake manifold behind the charge air cooler on engines with two intake paths. For P00A6, this is a plausibility check: at a start after a long standstill the sensor is compared with other temperature sensors (for example coolant temperature or the matching sensor of the other bank), which should then agree. No manufacturer description naming this exact code was found. Bank 2 codes occur only on engines with two separate intake or charge-air paths, one per cylinder bank.

The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.

Symptoms

  • Check engine light on
  • Usually no noticeable symptoms
  • Emissions test or readiness check may fail

Common causes

  • High Sensor drifting or coated with oil or soot
  • Medium Contact resistance at the connector
  • Medium Comparison sensor faulty
  • Low Engine block heater or auxiliary heater distorting the start comparison

Likelihood is a general estimate across vehicles; your make and model may differ.
