P007C: Charge Air Cooler Temperature Sensor Circuit Low Bank 1
Standardized SAE J2012 code · P00xx — Fuel & air metering and auxiliary emission controls
What does P007C mean?
The charge air cooler temperature sensor (an NTC thermistor) measures the temperature of the compressed charge air at the charge air cooler, depending on the manufacturer upstream or downstream of it, and is often combined with the boost pressure sensor. The engine control module uses it for the air mass calculation, boost control, component protection and to monitor cooler efficiency. P007C: A low signal means low sensor resistance, typically a short to ground; with an NTC sensor the control module then reads an extremely high temperature. Depending on the input circuit of the control module, an open circuit can occasionally also appear as low.
The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.
Symptoms
- Check engine light on
- Reduced power possible, especially on diesels
- Often no noticeable symptoms
Common causes
- High Signal wire shorted to ground
- High Sensor shorted internally
- Medium Oil or moisture in the connector
- Low Engine control module faulty
