C0376: Front Axle Disconnect
Standardized SAE J2012 code · C03xx codes
Safety-critical system. Faults in airbags, brakes, steering or high-voltage components can put people at risk. Follow the manufacturer's service information and safety procedures, or have the vehicle checked by a qualified workshop.
What does C0376 mean?
The 4WD control module has detected a fault on the front axle disconnect actuator. On part-time AWD vehicles this actuator decouples the front axle for fuel saving, and a fault prevents engagement or disengagement of front-wheel drive.
The code tells you which monitor failed, not which part is broken. Test before replacing parts.
Symptoms
- ABS warning light on
- ESC/stability control deactivated
- Possible reduced brake assist
- Speedometer may behave erratically
Common causes
- High Disconnect actuator failed (motor or solenoid)
- Medium Wiring or connector fault
- Low Axle position switch failed
